In response to the cut backs in federally funded food programs, the Outreach ministry at Holy Trinity will collect non-perishable food items on the 2nd Sunday each month.
Since the storage space at the pantry is limited, they asked that we only buy items on this list:
(Items marked with a * are in special demand.)
Canned Tomatoes--all types, pasta sauces*
Canned green beans
Pkg Raman soup
Mac & cheese Crackers
Boxed/canned meals (chili, stew, ravioli)
*Pasta and spaghetti
Other items needed:
*Bars of soup
*Individually wrapped toothbrushes
In a conversation yesterday, someone told me when she grocery shops, she tithes with her shopping list.
If she purchases $50 worth of items for herself, she adds $5 of items for the food pantry collection.
I though it sounded like a good idea and an easy way to include our outreach into our everyday routine.
Thank you for your faithful support of this community outreach!
You can help Lafayette Transitional Housing!
LTHC Homeless Services is a non-profit organization which began in 1989 to develop housing, offer supportive services, and other opportunities to foster self-sufficiency for the homeless, particularly families with children, in our community. LTHC operates the following programs: the Homeless Services Program ~ Coordinated Entry, Permanent Supportive Housing Programs, Rapid Re-Housing, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families. The goal of each program is to help individuals and families who are experiencing homeless learn the needed skills to maintain housing.
Are you re-organizing your living space, remodeling or upgrading your home? Think of LTHC if you are replacing household goods, furniture, appliances, etc with new ones! Although they can't
often help with transportation, they do have garage storage space at their facility to be able to hang onto these items until a client gets housing and has a place to put it.
