Interested in learning how we manage sound and live streaming during our church services? Join us Sunday, November 9th, right after service (around 11:15 a.m.) for an informational meeting lasting about an hour.
We’re inviting youth (6th grade and older) and adults who want to learn how to operate the sound board. Adults comfortable with basic computer tasks like uploading and downloading files will also have the chance to learn about live streaming.
After this initial meeting, Bill Hillery, Kevin and Connor Hintzman will offer hands-on shadowing opportunities during live services, followed by supervised practice sessions. Written instructions will also be provided for easy reference.
Our goal is to build our capacity to have 4 to 6 two-person teams, with one person operating the sound board while the other manages the live stream each Sunday. Currently, Bill and Kevin oversee the streaming, while Connor runs the sound board. Ideally, each team member would serve about once a month or every other month. If you have questions, please contact Bill Hillery or Kevin Hintzman.
The HTLC Quilters  make about 100 quilts per year which are typically used for Lutheran World Relief Quilt Mission and for Jubilee Christmas. Church members have frequently asked one of us if we would be willing to sell one of these quilts. In response to these inquiries, the Holy Trinity Quilters have decided to offer a quilt pieced by Mary Anderson and completed by the quilters in silent auction on November 3rd and will take silent bids until November 30th.Â
The selected quilt will be hung above the landing of the stairs going down to the fellowship hall. All proceeds will go into the Holy Trinity Quilters treasury for use for making more quilts. The winner of the auction will be notified shortly after the closing on November 30th by one of the quilters. The Holy Trinity Quilters thank you in advance for your support of this Lutheran World Relief quilt ministry.
It's been a tradition to celebrate Christmas by adorning the altar with beautiful red poinsettias from Bennett's. These blooming plants love a warm and sunny location (which does not describe our altar) so we invite you to purchase a plant (or two) and share with the congregation for Christmas Eve. You can take it home after the service.
Details:
Saturday December 13th, our congregation will welcome some parents to our church home for a morning of fellowship and support as they anticipate Christmas with their children. Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) reports a record high number of parents have registered to participate in Jubilee Christmas this year.Â
Our response has been to host more families; 22 invitations will be issued. LUM coordinates with other ministry groups like Salvation Army and Christmas for Everyone, sharing information to avoid duplication in participation. Together, these programs aim to serve as many families as possible. This is one of the ways that partnering with LUM makes HTLC Christmas outreach more effective and enduring.
Watch for your chance to "Jump into Jubilee" November 23rd as the Holy Trinity Elves invite you to a special fellowship hour.Â
Life is full of joys and challenges, some would say opportunities. God has given us many gifts and a lot of grace. This November is a good time to get into the habit of reflecting on and maybe expanding our gratitude practices.  Â
Before the holiday season sets in, take a moment to read and reflect on November’s blog Practicing Gratitude by Deb Blum about a number of gratitude practices you might want to try as we thank God for all that we have been given.
Â
Thank you to the 12 volunteers who came out and helped this past Saturday with our annual fall cleanup. The tasks completed included garden work, grounds maintenance, re-setting clocks, changing light bulbs, cleaning inside, and installing a dry erase board in the main conference room.Â
Thank you to the Property Committee and all our volunteers for helping upkeep the Holy Trinity grounds!
Thank you to everyone that participated in and attended the HTLC Talent Show last Sunday. We appreciate all those that came to support and watch all the wonderful talents in our church. A special thank you to those who helped plan, set up, and clean up the event.Â
Our Holy Trinity Team has been invited to the house blessings for the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity 2025 Women's Build. On November 11th, Team Holy Trinity will join the celebration of the completion of two homes in the Powderhouse neighborhood built by women for families in our community. Learn more about Holy Trinity's participation with Habitat for Humanity.Â
Join us on Sundays, at 9 A.M. in room 106 on the first floor for The Wired Word. This weekly Bible study curriculum connects the Bible to current events, open to everyone, seventh grade and older.Â
Our lesson this week uses the growth of the use of storage units to consider what we keep and why we hang on to things we aren't actually using. The news provides the opportunity to explore what the Bible teaches about materialism, values, hope and generosity.Â
Read the news related to this topic before attending this bible study to be prepared for an engaging conversation.
Do you have an event to add to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Calendar?Â
Please fill out the HTLC event form so we have the necessary information to not only add it to the church calendar but also have the necessary details to highlight it in the ePistle, our website and social media if requested.Â
Thank you!
